《Principles of Management》is acompulsorycourse for public administration major openingfor undergraduatestudents majoring in administration management. This course focuses on main management ideas and methods both at home and abroad, and from management, the development of management thinking, management, informationmanagementand the basic principle of planning, decision-making, organizing, leading, motivating, controlling, innovation of specific functions, etc., combing with case analysis, detailed in the system of management, dynamic, humanism, benefit and ethical theory. Through the study of this course, students will have a comprehensive and systematic understanding of the basic theories and methods of management. It emphasizes the combination oftheoryand practice.So that students could establish correct management concepts and skillfully use the basic theories and methods of management in their future study and work, and lay afoundationfortheirfurther development in the field of management.

I Course objectives

1. General course objectives

This course takes the content system as the outline, combines the management practice of the public sector or the industrial and commercial enterprise sector, introduces a large number of the latest progress and practical cases in the field of management at home and abroad. Through course learning, students can understand the basic theories, principles and methods of management, management functions such as planning and organization of management, and organizational culture construction, so as to improve students’theoretical knowledge level. To enable students masterthemain management theories at home and abroad, the history ofChinesemanagementthoughts and contemporary successfulmanagementexperience. To make students understand the development of management theory and its trend, cultivate students’ability and accomplishment to solve practical management problems.

2. Course sub-objectives:

Course objective 1:

Cultivate students’interest in learning and exploring management ideas and practices, make them familiar with the basic management workflow, master the basic management tools and methods, be able to use the basic management knowledge to explain the management phenomenon in reality, and to be able to solve the management problems in reality.(Support requirements 22.5for graduation of Public Administration)

Course objective2:

By combing the people-oriented concept and learning and practicingthemanagementmethod of team mode,thestudents can form a study group, so that they can get familiar with the essentials of team cooperation andmasterthe art of team cooperation in management through the learning of team type, advantages and disadvantages, team development stage, team effectiveness and other contents.(Support requirements 22.8for graduation of Public Administration)

Course objective3:

Students are acquired to master the general management technology and practical skills of finding problems, comprehensively analyzing problems and proposing solutions in different management scenarios, so as to cultivate effective managers integrating management theory, management ability andmanagementtalents with a sense of mission and social responsibility in the future. III Teaching staff

The person in charge of the course is required to have a doctor’s degree, a senior professional title, a public management related professional education background, and more than three years of teaching experience.

The lecturer of the course is required to have a master’s degree or intermediate professional title, education background of public management or administrative management related work experience.

V Teachingarrangement

This course emphasizes the combination of theory and practice.According to the syllabus and calendar, teachers should careful prepare, the students should preview the learning content and reading material. On the basis of teaching the basic knowledge, concepts and theories, this course will highlight the focus and difficulty of each chapter, not only transfer knowledges, but also pay more attention to training students’ thinking ability.

Explore a variety of teaching methods and forms, such as group discussion, debate, case teaching, thematic teaching, in order to cultivate students' initiative learning ability, cooperation ability and communication ability. Through the role simulation, the situation simulation, the simulation theater decision-making and so on, it will active classroom atmosphere, raise student's classroom responsibilityand a system of teaching methods combining theoretical teaching and practical teaching should be formed.

In order to broaden students’horizons, the course group plans to invite famous professors or workers from practice management department to give lectures and lectures in the school every semester. Positive work frontier issues in the field of management to the classroom, and provide students with chance to meet face-to-face with time management workers, further contact problems in the different industries and work management, could make students more realized the importance of learning management, stimulate the learning enthusiasm of the students, make students when they have a problem still keep thetenaciouswill quality, and improve their subjective ability to move to the implementation of innovative management.

This course will be arranged for at least two formal focus questions, which are intended for the middle and end of the course. It will carry out 3-5 courses according to the actual teaching process. Assignments can be carried out in the course of the requirements of the class during the course of the study, but also can be limited by the time the class did not expand the content. The form of work can be small paper, personal reading report, etc. Feedback marking from teachers, can be PPT display, personal feedback form express.

VII Instruction

The curriculum standards begin to use from the public management class 2020.The curriculum standards should be changed by the person in charge of the curriculum, the person in charge of the examination and approval of the Institute and the Ministry of education for the record. The curriculum standards of this course are carried out by the principal lecturer responsible for this course.
